Embroidery pattern designer Lauren Holton of Lark Rising shares her technique for creating one of her most popular designs. Her signature marbled effect looks complex to make, but all you need is satin stitch and a bit of time. Learn how to fade in and out of different shades of thread to create a modern motif with a gorgeous array of color.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Purchase a kit with everything you need here
  • Class PDF with tracing template, color guide, and section guide
  • One 7" square piece of neutral-colored fabric (linen-cotton blend)
  • 4" embroidery hoop
  • Size 22 tapestry needle
  • Embroidery floss (Lauren uses DMC brand ) - see color guide for advice on choosing your 22 shades
  • Light pad, light box, or sunlit window for tracing pattern (Lauren uses a Cricut light pad) 
  • Pilot Frixion erasable ballpoint pen (erasable with a heat gun, embossing heat tool, or hair dryer)
  • Fabric shears and small scissors
