Fold a Paper Lotus Flower
Mia Semingson of Two Hands Paperie
From ancient Egypt to Buddhism and Hinduism, the lotus flower represents the cycle of life, rebirth, peace, and love. In this class, you'll learn how to make a beautiful folded paper version of the legendary lotus. It looks extremely intricate, but the folds are actually quite simple. Mia Semingson is an artist, book binder, and owner of Two Hands Paperie in Boulder, Colorado, and she is always looking for creative ways to use paper. With basic origami techniques, Mia will guide you through constructing a four-layered lotus blossom. You can use it as a gift wrap embellishment, ornament, or even include it as part of your own rituals and celebrations by writing messages inside the folds, like wishes for friends or thoughtful intentions.
Make an Origami Postage Stamp Book
Bel Mills of Scrap Paper Circus
Book artist, mail artist, and educator Bel Mills takes great care when making even the smallest object. In this class she demonstrates just how much can be packed into a tiny book that features even tinier paper ephemera. As an avid upcycler, Bel loves to create art books using ordinary and cast-off paper products such as security envelopes and canceled stamps. This delicious visual snack, just a hair larger than a postage stamp, begins by folding an accordion book and then attaching a miniature cover. Along the way, make thoughtful design choices that lead the viewer on an adventure because every book is a journey, no matter how small.

Crafting Conversation: A Live Event with Constance Moore
CBTV Live
Join Creativebug host Twinkie Chan in this Q&A with artist and educator Constance Moore who teaches this month’s daily practice - Inspired By Picture Books: A Daily Practice of Creative Prompts. Coming live from her elementary school classroom where she teaches, Constance guides participants through the creation of a collaborative poem, plus two art prompts. This conversation was filmed live April 28, 2024.
The collaborative poem written during the live event:
My shade of brown strong black tea and a big bloop of vanilla creamer
The color of my kitchen walls
My beautiful shade of love is yellow which is bright & cheery like the sun
Mine is honey miso, salty and sweet
Cream with red strawberries
I am a latte - espresso and milk with plenty of sugar!
Recently my shade of love is gray - heart going out to those of us getting older
The rosy cheek colour of babies after a sleep
Love is pink…it doesn’t stink
My paintbrush is full of Toasted white sugar
Creamy peach latte with maple syrup
Brown and white striped like a Barred Owl
Peach/watermelon vanilla milkshake
Pink and purple and teal and blue, all of these remind me of you

Garment Sewing with Knits: An Introduction
Amanda Todaro of Ditto
Sewing with stretchy knit fabrics is a bit different than sewing with wovens. Amanda Todaro, a sewing educator from Ditto patterns, gives you an introduction to creating garments with knits, beginning with learning about the different stretches in fabrics, sewing your projects, setting in a shirt sleeve, finishing hems with mock cover stitch, and adding a finished neckband. And while a serger is a knit garment's best friend, learn how you can create most knit garments using only your sewing machine.
Crochet a Donut Rattle
Twinkie Chan

No glue or beads are necessary for this project - just yummy yarn!
Hand Sew an Easter Chick Softie and Basket
Kata Golda
In this class, Alison shares two hand-stitched projects—a sweet stuffed chick and a companion Easter basket. The egg-shaped chicks are a cinch to stitch and stuff, and the basket comes together with just a few rows of sewing. Whip up a batch in neutral colors and display them in an egg carton for whimsical Easter décor. Or fill the Easter baskets with pastel colored chicks and candy for a classic Easter presentation.

Tetra Pak Printing
Courtney Cerruti
Unlock the potential of everyday materials by transforming food packaging into printmaking plates that yield beautiful, accessible results. Courtney Cerruti, artist and Creativebug Editor-In-Chief, fell in love with this technique because it is similar to etching on metal plates but has a convenient twist—the materials you’ll use are recycled, readily available, and easy to work with. This approach encourages free and spontaneous exploration, without the worry of “ruining a plate.” In this class, learn how to upcycle a TetraPak into a printing plate, create abstract images from organic shapes, etch prints by drawing directly onto the surface, and cut away spaces that will print in black. This sustainable method offers a creative and attainable way to dive into printmaking.

Emily Contino
This is a really great class for anyone that enjoys crafting - especially those - ahem - of a certain age, who may find themselves a bit stiff when spending too long in one position while crafting.
I really enjoyed the month of knitting and stretching and would recommend this for anyone at all - even if I joked about mid-life ladies like me that wake up with a new pain each day!
March 3
Bethany Rainbolt
I am not a knitter, but I crochet, so I just adapted this class to my practice as suggested. I have done yoga every single day for nearly four and a half years now, so adding a yoga practice for needle work to that was so rejuvenating and fun! I really enjoyed this class and learned a couple fun little yoga/yarn tricks that I didn't expect.
