The Trudy Block is a truly hands-on project where you'll learn how to hand-stitch a curved applique design from start to finish. Modern quilter Carolyn Friedlander masterfully demonstrates how to do needle-turn applique, showing how to baste and sew curved applique pieces onto a background fabric. Best of all, this project is a perfect way to piece blocks on the go since you won’t need a sewing machine to make it.
 
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • PDF template
  • 7 ½” x 7 ½” background fabric
  • 6” x 6” applique fabric
  • Sharp scissors
  • 2 Colors cotton thread, one matching color to applique and the other a contrasting color (50wt)
  • Thread conditioner (optional)
  • Applique needle
  • Applique pins
  • Marking tool
  • Seam gauge

Finished Block Size: 7 ½” square

it was really good but im not sure why she didnt use the needle more for the turning of the fabric as she sewed instead of just her fingers
