Making an artful image doesn't have to be difficult. With just a few unique materials, you can create a beautiful illustration without any drawing experience at all. Artist Extraordinaire Courntey Cerruti is excited to expand one of her most popular Creativebug classes into a daily practice exploring monoprinting. First made popular by Andy Warhol, these monoprints use a blotted line technique made by using a process that combines tracing with basic printmaking. The result is dotted, broken, and delicate lines that can then be colored in. There is a lot of freedom inherent in this technique - the quality of your line expresses your own style - with each inking and impression of the original image producing a unique illustration.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- Transparency sheets. Courtney has had good results with these:
- Straight holder
- Stainless Steel pointed nib pen – Courtney is using Nikko G
- Nib pen sets shown: Speedball No. 20 and No. 5 General, Hunt nibs
- Medium weight paper (minimum 28#) – Courtney is using Strathmore drawing paper, Canson Mixed Media paper, Paper Source text weight black and gravel, and Hammermill 28# printer paper. You can also use other toned papers such as kraft, grey and blacks found at your local art supply store.
- F&W Acrylic Ink or other waterproof ink – Courtney is using Payne's Grey, Indigo, and White
- Watercolors – Courtney is using Prima Watercolors "The Classics" and Prima Watercolors "Decadent Pies" and Finetec and Prima metallic watercolors
- Paintbrushes – Courtney is using a #4 round brush
- Baby wipes or Windex and paper towels
- Washi or painter's tape
- Dinky dips and eye dropper (optional)
- Image references printed from PDF – find more images on pexels.com
