Join Abby and her nine-year-old Violet as they work on four projects exploring the basic art elements of line, shape, form, and color. Abby offers suggestions for an art box of materials that your kids can have regular access to, how to be flexible and receptive to your child's unique process, and how to make cleanup fun. Whether they work collaboratively or independently, this is the first step in building a nurturing creative practice for your kids. This class is recommended for all adults and caregivers who want to foster creativity with the little artists in their lives.

Here’s what you’ll need:
Recommendations for Abby's Kids Art Box
- Cold press watercolor paper pad
- Printer paper and other various papers a such as colored paper, cardboard, sticky notes
- Washable markers
- Colored pencils
- Wax crayons, Stabilo wooden crayons, Faber-Castell gel crayons
- Ink daubers, color and black
- Amsterdam Acrylics or Tempera paints, Abby recommends Sargent Art Brand
- Watercolor paint set
- Pencils, ball point pens, Sharpie markers
- Scissors of various sizes
- Mod Podge, glue sticks, glitter glue, cordless hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Jars and recycled cans
- Various synthetic and foam brushes
- Plastic lids for palettes
- Colorful masking or washi tape
- Paper to cover table
- Scrap cardboard / various sizes & weights (cereal boxes)
- Various found objects to use for circle stencils (can, game boards, tape rounds)

For Project One
- Watercolor or printer paper, cut in half
- Pencils
- Colored pencils and markers
- Found objects for tracing from around the home
For Project Two
- Colored cardstock cut into smaller pieces
- Watercolor, black paper, or printer paper, cut in half
- Glue sticks
- Scissors
For Project Three
- Old utensils, cardboard recycling, plastic caps, discarded toys
- Old shoe boxes & lids
- Hot glue and glue sticks
- Optional: Foam brush and acrylic paint
For Project Four
- 6 x 6 pieces of cardboard, cut from a recycled box
- Craft foam shapes, precut and sticky
- Washable makers
- Spray bottle with water or wet sponge
- 8 x 8 papers for printing

This course really gave some great ideas tips and pointers together with some really cool age appropriate opportunities to experience art at the hands of grandma!
