Join Halloween enthusiasts, Courtney Cerruti and Twinkie Chan, in making spooky specimens for the season. Transform plastic toys with acrylic paint and mount them onto wooden plaques to create frightfully sophisticated Halloween home decor. This affordable project can be adapted for all ages and makes a fun family craft.  This video was recorded live October 25, 2023.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Plastic toys under 5" (not stretchy) such as insects, animals, skull etc.
  • Acrylic craft paint in black, green, metallic gold and silver and whatever color palette you enjoy
  • Wooden craft plaque from 3" and up, one for each "specimen"
  • Hot glue
  • Paint brushes, water and paper towel
  • White glue and glitter (optional)

I didn’t like the idea. I also have this problem in that I cannot deface books in any way. My mother was a librarian, so I learned a lot of book etiquette.
