This classic granny hexagon motif is perfect for the season because it resembles a giant snowflake, and Twinkie teaches you the basic granny stitch, which is made of double crochet stitches and chains. You’ll also learn how to work in the round to create a six-sided shape. Choose your own color scheme and how many colors to use, and easily adjust the size of your motifs to change the size of the stocking. To assemble the hexagons into a stocking shape, Twinkie provides several diagrams and guides you through her preferred method of putting it all together with a hand-sewn fabric lining and a hanging loop. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1-4 colors of DK or worsted weight yarn - Twinkie uses Big Twist Value in Ivory, Deep Red, Medium Rose, Jade Green
- H8/5.0mm crochet hook (consider going down one hook size smaller than your usual to keep the stitches dense)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Extra long straight pins (optional)
- For optional fabric lining: 1/2 yard woven fabric in a solid color that you don't mind showing through your crochet stitches
- Scissors for fabric
- Fabric marking tool like a Frixion pen or even a regular pencil
- Sewing thread to match your fabric
- Hand-sewing needle

Good instructions and visual demonstrations. This class is a little slow for me, but that is because I have crocheted a long time. I did really like the way Twinkie demonstrated joining all of the hexagons and the explanation about how to add the toe. I would say this class is for an advance beginner, not an intermediate crocheter or hooker.
Cute design and allows for a lot of creativity.
