Join Courtney in making meaningful portraits of women who inspire you and your creative practice in celebration of Women's History Month. No need for advanced drawing skills! Courtney will share her favorite monoprinting technique where you can trace a photo and create a beautiful final image ready to finish with watercolor. Inspired by the Virginia Woolf quote "anonymous was a woman," Courtney creates portraits of unknown women honoring them and their forgotten stories. Use this technique to create a meaningful portrait of anyone or dive deep into your own family history to create art of un-named ancestor.

F&W Acrylic Ink - Courtney is using Payne's Grey
Dinky dips (optional)
Medium weight paper (minimum 28#) - Courtney is using Strathmore 400 series drawing paper
Washi or painter's tape
Watercolors - Courtney is using Gansai Tambi watercolor set
Paintbrushes - Courtney is using a #8 Princeton round brush
Baby wipes or Windex and paper towels
Courtney uses NYPL digital collections and Library of Congress to source historical images.

This was such a fun and satisfying class to take! Even though I did not have the right nib, I was so pleased with my first two tries. I appreciate how Courtney explained the hows and whys in using particular materials to get the best results. I could not be more pleased with this class.
