I grew up in the North Coast of California near the Redwoods and the Ocean. My parents were of the Beatnik generation and knew many of the now famous poets from back then. Our childhood was always filled with art and poetry. I learned how to make etchings, stretch canvas, paint with oils, mix pigments, drew zen tangle before it was even a word, made quilts from my mothers scrap basket from the clothing she made for us, dyed and spun wool, and did some weaving on a small table loom. We had a broad range of mixed medias. We were very blessed that way. Living a few hours away from the Mendocino Art Center, I have taken many work shops there over the years from wonderful teachers, and spent some time at the Philadelphia Work Shop and Museum learning screen printing using my own designs. Art has been a thread through out my life. I currently work out of my Studio next door to my home, mainly working in textiles creating quilts, wallhangings, aprons, hats, pillows and scarves. When I am not working in my studio, I spend time working in the garden, taking my 12 goats out for daily walks to browse, spending time with my husband, and looking after my recently widowed father. Even though I have been steeped in Art most of my life, I still approach it with a beginners mind, open to learning something new and seeing how others approach different mediums. Thank You to Creativebug for making this possible with so many wonderful teachers and mediums that you offer online classes in. I feel very blessed!
